The Nashville Predators have had a very active Sunday. They shutout the St. Louis Blues 4-0. They then made a trade which sent Pontus Åberg to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Mark Letestu before shipped him to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. Now the Predators have made a trade with AHL implications as they have acquired forward Brandon Bollig and goaltender Troy Grosenick from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a sixth round draft pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.
The Nashville Predators have assigned goaltender Matt O’Connor to the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL. It will be the fourth different ECHL team that O’Connor has played for this season after starting off with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL at the start of the campaign.
Following a brief recall, the Milwaukee Admirals have loaned defenseman Rick Pinkston back to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. Pinkston was recalled on Saturday’s home game after a potential injury crunch at the time but Joonas Lyytinen was able to suit up and play both games this weekend while Pinkston was out as a healthy scratch.
Milwaukee Admirals captain Trevor Smith has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week. The Admirals won all four-games played this week and Smith scored 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in the process.
The Milwaukee Admirals have recalled defenseman Rick Pinkston from the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. This recall comes after the Admirals defense has taken a hit between trading away Andrew O’Brien and have seen recent hard knocks to Trevor Murphy and Joonas Lyytinen.
The Nashville Predators have acquired forward Mark McNeill from the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Andrew O’Brien. In addition, the Milwaukee Admirals have traded forward Tyler Kelleher to the Texas Stars for future considerations.
The oddity that is this year’s ECHL goaltending continues with yet another twist. According to AHL Transactions the Nashville Predators have assigned Matt O’Connor to the Manchester Monarchs. This will be O’Connor’s third different ECHL team on the 2017-18 season and all came after he had the chance to play for the Norfolk Admirals who began the season as the organization’s ECHL affiliate.
The Nashville Predators have activated Viktor Arvidsson from injured reserve and reassigned Frédérick Gaudreau to the Milwaukee Admirals. Both teams are in action tonight. The Predators host the Florida Panthers at the Bridgestone Arena while the Admirals are on the road playing against the Iowa Wild at the Wells Fargo Arena.
The Nashville Predators have recalled Frédérick Gaudreau from the Milwaukee Admirals. The Predators return to action tonight at the Bridgestone Arena. Their first game back after their bye week is against the Vegas Golden Knights.
There are a lot of reasons to be excited about Eeli Tolvanen. The Finnish forward has already surpassed Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s KHL record set in 2010-11 for the most points produced by a teenager. Tolvanen has amassed 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) in 41 games with Jokerit and the team has 8 games remaining in their league schedule. It feels quite like the Nashville Predators got themselves a steal with the thirtieth overall selection in the 2017 NHL Draft.
As far as steals go the Predators might have done more in that department. A month prior to the most recent draft they managed to sign forward Victor Ejdsell to a two-year entry-level contract following a 2016-17 season where he earned MVP honors in Sweden’s second flight – Allsvenskan. Similar to Tolvanen, Ejdsell has yet to make the leap into the professional ranks in North America but instead is spending his 2017-18 season playing in a top European league. Ejdsell is showing with HV71 that his efforts that put him on an NHL radar wasn’t a fluke.
