Rampage: Scouting the Enemy

These guys again? That’s right. The San Antonio Rampage are back once again at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. They played the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night and lost 5-4 in overtime. The Admirals continued on to sweep the weekend three-in-three and are arriving to tonight on a four-game winning streak. The Rampage are heading in the opposite direction and are now on a five-game winless stretch (0-3-2-0). If Saturday’s game felt feisty you can expect more fireworks as both sides should be playing with desperation.

Chatterbox

Chatterbox, Vol. 253

This morning the Milwaukee Admirals returned to practice at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The team is coming off of a three-in-three weekend sweep and are riding a four-game winning streak heading into tomorrow night’s contest against the San Antonio Rampage. There were some changes along the way at practice -but- the winning look is staying mostly intact.

Rick Pinkston Loaned Back to Atlanta (ECHL)

Following a brief recall, the Milwaukee Admirals have loaned defenseman Rick Pinkston back to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. Pinkston was recalled on Saturday’s home game after a potential injury crunch at the time but Joonas Lyytinen was able to suit up and play both games this weekend while Pinkston was out as a healthy scratch.

Ramblings

Roundtable Mailbag

As you probably could have guessed. The Milwaukee Admirals had the day off this lovely Monday morning following three games in three days. The team swept the three-in-three weekend and are now on a four-game winning streak after that rough six-game losing skid. They will be back to practice tomorrow morning at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena ahead of their return clash against the San Antonio Rampage. The Admirals beat the Rampage 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night. The Rampage will be playing on the road against the Iowa Wild tonight.

Chatterbox, Vol. 252

The Milwaukee Admirals have won four straight games and along the way swept a three-in-three marathon weekend. It wasn’t all clean. It wasn’t perfect, by any means. But what the Admirals are starting to show more and more is a fighting spirit and resiliency that is keeping them in games that they are finding ways to close out. Last night’s 5-4 win over the Stockton Heat was no different. They claimed their first lead of the game with 7:05 remaining in regulation and found a way to stamp out the win.

Weekend Sweep; Admirals Beat the Heat 5-4

The Milwaukee Admirals won 5-4 against the Stockton Heat at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Sunday night.

The Admirals swept the three-in-three weekend and this was one of the wildest games of the season. The Admirals were in a constant uphill battle. They took their first lead late in the third period and managed to fend off a late power-play chance from the Heat to make it a four-game winning streak.

“What we liked about tonight’s game was how disciplined we were,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “We’ve had some problems with some penalties in the past that their team struggled a little bit with. We stayed composed. We seemed to do a lot more good things in tonight’s hockey game than poor things.”

Heat: Scouting the Enemy

The Milwaukee Admirals are on a three-game winning streak and have scored 10 goals in the first two-legs of this weekend’s three-in-three. And, hey, that is 10 goals produced all without their leading scorer Bobby Butler. The depth of the Admirals needed to start coming to the forefront and being a reason for the Admirals winning games. That has happened of late and has seen great progressions for the defense after a six-game losing streak. The Admirals have an opportunity to sweep a three-in-three set for the first time since the start of the 2015-16 season this evening. What stands in front of them from that and a four-game winning streak are a Stockton Heat squad on a winning streak of their own.

The momentum swings of this 2017-18 season have been pretty violent. There have been so many ups-and-downs that it can be hard to appreciate a good string of games at times because it feels like the eventual fall is right around the corner. The Milwaukee Admirals, after having lost six straight games, are now on a three-game winning streak and looking to sweep a three-in-three for the first time since the first three games of November in the 2015-16 season.
