Predators Make Roster Cuts

The Nashville Predators have officially made their first wave of roster cuts from their Pre-Season Roster. There are numerous players that are being assigned or returned to the Milwaukee Admirals. Those players will be on-hand when Admirals Pre-Season Training Camp opens up this Tuesday at the MSOE Kern Center.

The list of players heading back include: Frédéric Allard, Derek Army, Bobby Butler, Tyler Kelleher, Justin Kirkland, Joonas Lyytinen, T.J. Melancon, Angelo Miceli, Trevor Mingoia, Tyler Moy, Trevor Murphy, Matt O’Connor, Jimmy Oligny, Jake Paterson, Stephen Perfetto, Rick Pinkston, and Anthony Richard.

There are still a good handful of players up with the Predators. Some are well and truly battling for spots while others are being afforded an extended look with the team. Many of the names due back in Milwaukee after this wave of cuts are expected but there are two defensemen in the mix that stand out.

The first is Lyytinen who appears to be extending his pre-season in North America that extra bit further by attending camp in Milwaukee. The 22-year old Finn did sign a contract with Kärpät before signing an entry level contract with the Predators this off-season. It appeared he wanted to give things a look on this side of the pond first before making any judgement on where he will play in 2017-18. That decision has either been made -or- is still processing.

The second is Melancon who joined the Predators camp on a try-out basis. That has now turned into a PTO Contract with the Milwaukee Admirals. Melancon is a 21-year old from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada who just completed his junior playing career with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. In his playing time within the QMJHL he played 200 games, scored 99 points (29 goals, 70 assists), and finished last season by scoring the most goals by a defenseman (19) in the league.

The Predators do play another pre-season contest tomorrow afternoon as they battle on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 2:00 PM CST. The final two pre-season games for the Predators actually match-up with when the Milwaukee Admirals work their pre-season games on Thursday and Saturday. It will be interesting to see if more changes take place prior to then.
