Bobby Butler Signs AHL Contract with Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Admirals have signed Bobby Butler to a one-year AHL contract for the 2017-18 season. The 30-year old right winger is a three-time AHL All-Star and won the 2011 AHL Calder Cup with the Binghamton Senators. He has spent his past two seasons playing abroad in Sweden and Russia.

Milwaukee, WI—The Admirals have signed right wing Bobby Butler to an American Hockey League contract for the 2017-18 season.

Butler is a three-time American Hockey League All-Star, who has tallied 87 goals and 79 assists for 116 points in 221 career AHL contests with the Binghamton Senators, Albany Devils, and San Antonio Rampage. As a rookie in 2010-11 he was selected to the AHL All-Star contest in the regular season and then led league rookies in post season scoring with 17 points to help the Senators to the Calder Cup Championship.

He also played in the all-star game with Albany in 2012-13 and San Antonio during the 2014-15 campaign. The Marlborough, MA native led the Rampage in scoring with 47 points (22g-25a) in 2013-14 as well as the following season when he tallied 27 goals and 32 assists for 59 points.

A Hobey Baker Finalist and Hockey East Player of the Year with New Hampshire in 2010, Butler has a combined 130 games of NHL Experience under his belt with Ottawa, New Jersey, Nashville, and Florida. In those games he totaled 20 goals and 29 assists for 49 points to go along with 28 penalty minutes.

The past two seasons Butler has played in Europe, including last season when he combined for seven goals and 14 assists in 40 games in the KHL with Zagreb and Nizhny.

Butler and the Admirals will kick off the 2017-18 campaign in Iowa against the Wild on Oct. 7. They will begin the home portion of the schedule on Friday, October 20th at 7 pm against the Hershey Bears at Panther Arena.

Butler adds another solid veteran presence to the Admirals forward group for the 2017-18 season. He joins Trevor Smith, Pierre-Cédric Labrie, and Cody Bass as forwards on the expected Admirals roster that are 30-years of age or older. Butler and Bass were teammates in Binghamton where they won the Calder Cup in 2011.

In his career Butler has logged 130 games in the NHL while scoring 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists). He was part of the Nashville Predators during the 2012-13 season and managed to score 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 20 games. He has 221 games of AHL experience and has 166 points (87 goals, 79 assists) to his name. The last two seasons he has played in Sweden with MODO Hockey (2015-16) and in Russia with Medvescak Zagreb and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (2016-17). In his last AHL season he played with the San Antonio Rampage and produced 59 points (27 goals, 32 assists) in 68 games.
