Justin Kirkland entered this game having only scored a single goal on the season. That lone goal came in the fortieth game of the season. Tonight, in game number forty-seven for Kirkland and the Admirals, he scores the first hat trick of his professional career as the Admirals win back-to-back games after suffering from a six-game losing streak.

Skid Over; Admirals Win 3-2 in Shootout

(Game Recap: Nicholas Hatch. Photo Credit: Scott Paulus.)

The Milwaukee Admirals won 3-2 in a shootout against the Manitoba Moose at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Tuesday night.

The Admirals started out strong thanks to Bobby Butler’s two-hundredth career AHL point and led after one period. However, the Admirals let their recent habits get the best of them and let the Moose take the lead in the second period. The game ultimately would head to a shootout with the Admirals once again coming out on top, making them a perfect six-for-six in shootouts this season.

“It’s a relief for sure,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason of the result. “Not only is it a big win because, obviously lost six in a row, but it’s the way that we played and the way that we won this hockey game.”

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 5-1 against the Manitoba Moose at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Saturday night.

The Admirals losing streak has reached six games. They faced a very dominant Moose squad on the evening but similar errors for the Admirals turned up once again. The Admirals have conceded twenty-eight goals during the losing streak and conceded five goals in four of the six games.

“When things are not going good they go really bad and, right now, they’re really bad,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “It’s as bad as I’ve seen it here in my six-years. We have to find a way to stick together and find a way out of this.”

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-1 on the road against the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena on Friday night.

The Wolves entered this game with a ten game winning streak on home ice. That continues forward on the strength of a natural hat trick from Stefan Matteau. The skid for the Admirals has now reached five straight defeats. This is the longest losing streak by the Admirals since the 2014-15 season when they lost seven consecutive games in January 2015. That season the Admirals missed the playoffs.

When It Reigns It Pours; Admirals Lose 4-3

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-3 against the Ontario Reign at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Saturday night.

The Admirals had the lead after the first and second period. Yet, the Reign stormed out of the second intermission to score three third period goals to give them an edge that the Admirals couldn’t overcome late. The Admirals, who had a season best four-game winning streak earlier in January, have closed out the month with a four-game losing streak. It is the longest such losing skid since November of last season.

“It’s so frustrating because we had control of the game,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “We think we played extremely well in tonight’s hockey game and we didn’t get rewarded for it. I’m sure that the players feel the same frustration that we’re feeling but we have to take some kind of a positive out of it. The outcome wasn’t what we wanted but the way that we played was the way that we wanted it.”

Struggling; Ads Shutout By Monsters 5-0

(Game Recap: Nicholas Hatch. Photo Credit: Scott Paulus.)

The Milwaukee Admirals were shutout 5-0 by the Cleveland Monsters at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Tuesday night.

This game started out well for the Admirals. A few bad bounces resulted in the Monsters scoring two quick goals, but the first period was by far the best of the night for the Admirals. The Monsters were aided by Terry Broadhurst, who registered the first hat trick of his AHL career. Not only that, but this was just his third career multi-goal game. This all happened in front of a twenty-seven save shutout in the Monsters debut for goaltender Jeff Zatkoff.

“Very frustrating,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason. “Because we thought we turned the corner. Now we’ve lost the last three in a row. We can’t continually shoot ourselves like we continue to do.”

Admirals Fall in Early Hole; Griffins Win 5-2

(Game Recap: Nicholas Hatch. Photo Credit: Scott Paulus.)

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 5-2 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Friday night.

The Admirals once again fell into an early hole against the Griffins. Unlike Wednesday things didn’t work out quite as well this time around. The Admirals fell behind 3-0 after the first period and couldn’t get a foothold. The Griffins have now scored four or more goals in four straight games in Milwaukee. They did so tonight in front of 9,444 fans which was an Admirals record attendance = at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

“We had some unfortunate plays early in the game,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “We turned the puck over early. We shot ourselves again. And, whenever you do that, it’s not going to be the right outcome. We have to do the right things early in hockey games in order to give ourselves an opportunity. We didn’t do it here tonight.”

The Milwaukee Admirals came back with four unanswered goals to win 4-3 on the road against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena on Wednesday night.

This game was looking like a typical Admirals trip into Grand Rapids. The Griffins had a 2-0 lead early and had a great effort in net from Jared Coreau. However, the Admirals scored four successive goals including three goals scored in the third period to comeback and beat the Griffins in their own barn.
