It was reported yesterday evening. It is now official. The Nashville Predators have signed Marek Mazanec to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2017-18 season. The deal is worth $650,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the AHL. Mazanec should be expected to be the first choice goaltender for the Milwaukee Admirals for the coming season in what will be his fifth season with the organization.

Rick Pinkston Signs AHL Contract with Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Admirals have announced the signing of defenseman Rick Pinkston to a one-year AHL contract for the 2017-18 season. This completes the hat trick for the Admirals as far as bringing back players that stayed with the team on a lengthy run under a professional-try contract basis. Derek Army and Stephen Perfetto both signed with the Admirals on AHL contracts in the past week.

Cody Bass; Return of the War Horse

The 2016-17 season was looking to be the stuff of dreams for a 29-year old Cody Bass. In what was the start of his tenth professional playing season he was making the Opening Night roster as an NHL player for the first time in his career. That story looked to be an awfully good one out of the first puck drop. It quickly turned into a season to forget.

The Admiral Depth Charge

When the Milwaukee Admirals signed Stephen Perfetto yesterday it raised a few questions among the readership of: what exactly does that mean and how would the lines look? Well, assuming that Frédérick Gaudreau sticks around with the Nashville Predators out of their pre-season training camp, Perfetto’s addition yesterday would mean that AHL group just received their prospective twelfth forward for the 2017-18 season. That is just enough to fulfill a complement of four forward lines. In short, there really is still much to be done to not only help the Milwaukee Admirals but the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL.

Stephen Perfetto Signs AHL Contract with Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Admirals have announced that they have signed forward Stephen Perfetto to a one-year AHL contract for the 2017-18 season. Perfetto joined the Admirals late last season from the Alaska Aces on a professional try-out contract. He joins Derek Army in being bumped up from PTO signee out of the ECHL in 2016-17 with the Admirals to full-time for the coming season.

Vladislav Kamenev and the Path Moving Forward

These past two days have been really joyous ones for the Nashville Predators organization. On Monday, Frédérick Gaudreau signed a three-year contract. And, yesterday, Pontus Åberg signed a two-year contract. Similar to the likes of Austin Watson & Colton Sissons before them it displays a great strength in the developmental process with reward for all the hard work spent with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL before being counted upon for an NHL role.

It didn’t exactly dawn on me until late yesterday evening though just what the ramifications of both signings signals as far as Vladislav Kamenev is concerned. For a nice change, the Predators forward depth up top is becoming solidified with quality options and with a bit of years attached to their contracts. As much as any player would like to break into the NHL as fast as humanly possible the importance of being a polished and prepared product when you arrive is something the Predators have been specializing in these last many seasons. The proof of it’s effectiveness can be displayed through the run to the 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Finals and it isn’t something that needs to be adjusted.

It’s that sort of thinking that means a soon to be 21-year old Kamenev, about to embark on his third professional playing season in North America, is in a good place right where he is for the moment.
