At the start of this season my biggest concern for the Milwaukee Admirals was their goaltending. Jump ahead a few months and Anders Lindbäck should be a folk hero in Milwaukee. It is without question that he has been the best player for the Admirals all season and last night’s effort from him was spectacular. What are the Admirals to start the 2017-18 season without Lindbäck in net? That’s a frightening question. Because, in moments like last night, I’m not sure the Admirals even get to a shootout.

Joonas Lyytinen Reassigned to Atlanta (ECHL)

Ahead of tonight’s game there is a roster move to announce. Joonas Lyytinen has been reassigned to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL from the Milwaukee Admirals. He will join fellow Admirals defenseman Rick Pinkston who also plays for Atlanta following the termination of the ECHL affiliation agreement between the Nashville Predators and Norfolk Admirals.

Numb. That’s the feeling for me after last night’s 3-2 overtime loss for the Milwaukee Admirals to the Chicago Wolves. I’m not even sure if the previous run of up-down since November has anything to do with that, either. Last night was actually a really good game for both sides. It just so happened that the Admirals came out on the wrong side of an overtime game for the third time in December. It was still good. It wasn’t bad. And there are still pieces in motion that keep seeing this team evolving as this season approaches 2018.

Everything But The Result; Ads Lose 3-2 in OT

The Milwaukee Admirals fell 3-2 in overtime against the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Wednesday night.

This contest really had a little bit of everything you would hope out of a rivalry game. Unfortunately the Admirals could only take the lone point on the evening. Jake Walmann would net the game-winning goal in overtime to get the Wolves point streak up to eight-games.

“Overall, I thought it was a great hockey game,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “It had a lot in it. Good pace for coming off of Christmas break. Execution was good. It was a fun hockey game. They get the last shot but we’re very happy with our effort for sure.”

Wolves: Scouting the Enemy

Firstly, I hope all had a Merry Christmas and had a lovely time with family and friends! Secondly, these guys again. The Chicago Wolves started their 2017-18 season rather poorly with a lot of varying pieces across their lineup. They’re the Vegas Golden Knights’ AHL affiliate. They still have a slight working agreement with the St. Louis Blues who have no dedicated AHL affiliate this season. And then their own AHL contracted players. It took time to get going but they are now. They arrive out of the AHL Christmas break on a seven-game point streak.

Powered Up; Admirals Win 5-3 in Cleveland

The Milwaukee Admirals won 5-3 on the road against the Cleveland Monsters at the Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.

If you are a fan of special teams hockey? Boy, was this game for you! These two teams had twenty-five penalty minutes from eleven infractions – each. The Admirals powered their way to the result tonight by scoring three power-play goals to sweep the two-game set in Cleveland.

BANG; Admirals Win 5-2 in Cleveland

The Milwaukee Admirals won 5-2 on the road against the Cleveland Monsters at the Quicken Loans Arena on Friday night.

Tonight was the most explosive night for the Admirals in what feels like ages. They haven’t scored five goals in a game since the sixth game of the season – twenty-one games ago. This was a very well-rounded effort that saw the French Fries really shine on the score sheet.

Monsters: Scouting the Enemy

It hasn’t been the greatest of times for the Milwaukee Admirals. In fact, it actually feels like where this up-down run started to really trend for the worse was in this weekend’s fixture: road games against the Cleveland Monsters. The Admirals lost both games at the Quicken Loans Arena a month ago and have gone 5-7-2-0 since they first met the Monsters while only earning a single win in regulation. The Admirals don’t need a Christmas miracle here. They just need to follow up what worked well last weekend and go to work.

O’Connor Reassigned to Quad City

The Nashville Predators have reassigned goaltender Matt O’Connor from the Atlanta Gladiators to the Quad City Mallards. This ECHL to ECHL flip could be a slight trend this season while the Predators organization will act without an ECHL affiliate after terminating their agreement with the Norfolk Admirals. O’Connor had appeared four times with the Gladiators prior to this move.
