Ahead of tonight’s game there is a roster move to announce. Joonas Lyytinen has been reassigned to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL from the Milwaukee Admirals. He will join fellow Admirals defenseman Rick Pinkston who also plays for Atlanta following the termination of the ECHL affiliation agreement between the Nashville Predators and Norfolk Admirals.
Lyytinen’s first run in the ECHL came with Norfolk. He produced 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) in 5 games in that time. In the AHL this season with Milwaukee he has played 7 games and has yet to produce a point. With Fred Allard, Jack Dougherty, and Andrew O’Brien all rotating so often it feels that Lyytinen being assigned simply comes down to allowing him to play and be ready for the right opportunity.
As for the Gladiators, they play against the South Carolina Stingrays tonight and tomorrow night. Their contest tonight comes at home and the follow-up is on the road before they conclude their December portion of the schedule.
