IceHogs: Scouting the Enemy

The Milwaukee Admirals needed a shootout on Friday night to defeat the Iowa Wild. They thankfully had a chance to get some energy back yesterday before playing on the road this evening. The Rockford IceHogs haven’t had that ability to recharge. They’re finishing the last of a three-in-three and are looking to win consecutively at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The Admirals had an upswing Friday night. Can it -for once- be sustained?

Wild: Scouting the Enemy

The Milwaukee Admirals up and down run this season suffered a down on Wednesday night. The Admirals lost 4-2 against the Grand Rapids Griffins to see their five-game point streak come to an end. That run started well enough, with the Admirals first back-to-back regulation wins since they started the season on a four-game winning streak, but it was followed with three games that went beyond regulation. It ended with a rough “shoot self in foot” outing Wednesday. Focus now shifts to finding an “up” before the Admirals can figure out a way of maintaining a positive run of form.

Chatterbox, Vol. 242

Is it just the Grand Rapids Griffins? Is it just the running theme of the 2017-18 season? The Milwaukee Admirals 4-2 loss last night is the sort that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth. It’s not that the Admirals were necessarily bad for any great length of time but -when they were- it was game altering. Up. Down. Repeat. That might be the only true consistency of the Admirals season to date.

Mistakes Made; Admirals Lose 4-2 to Griffins

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-2 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Wednesday night.

It appears as though the ups and downs of the 2017 side of the calendar have translated into 2018. The Admirals trailed early and couldn’t get back on even terms and that sees their five-game point streak come to an end tonight at the hands of a Griffins team that has now won four-straight.

“What we did tonight is we gave them four goals,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “Each goal we messed up in some manner in order to give them that great opportunity. And it can’t happen.”

Admiral of the Month: December

The Milwaukee Admirals trend of ups and downs continued from November into December. If anything, they picked up a brand new habit of playing games beyond regulation. The Admirals played 13 games in December and logged 7 games that went to overtime. Their record this past month was 5-4-4-0 (14 points, 0.538 points percentage). It was up from November (0.500) and still far off of how good they started in October (0.714).

It’s in moments such as the last two months when the choices for top performers feel limited. It isn’t the quality that is suspect it is just the consistency of that quality that makes things difficult. Luckily for Admirals fans, and myself giving the monthly award, the choice for The Real Estate Center‘s Admiral of the Month Award for the past two months has actually been quite easy. The most consistent and best player for the Admirals right now is Anders Lindbäck. It’s not even close. And that is why he is the Admiral of the Month for December.

Admirals Rally Late in Grand Rapids; Lose 4-3 in OT

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-3 in overtime on the road against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena on Sunday night.

Both teams entered tonight’s game riding a four-game point streak. After seeing three third period goals the Admirals made sure that both would continue. The incredible rally forced overtime but a power-play goal from Matthew Ford would see the Griffins come out on the right side of this contest tonight.

Griffins: Scouting the Enemy

New Year’s Eve. What a better way to celebrate the end of 2017 than by having the Milwaukee Admirals play against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena? It has been one of the best rivalries within the Central Division and sees both teams looking to carry momentum over into 2018. The Admirals won in a shootout over the Chicago Wolves on Friday night. The Griffins are looking to sweep a three-in-three weekend after they plopped down 10 goals in 2 games against the Cleveland Monsters on Friday and Saturday. This should be another scrappy and tight Admirals game running with the theme of this week.
