The Nashville Predators have recalled Juuse Saros back to the NHL and reassigned Anders Lindbäck to the Milwaukee Admirals. In addition, Jake Paterson and Matt O’Connor will trade places once again between the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL and the Admirals.
Saros played 3 games with the Admirals during what was the Nashville Predators bye week. He went 2-1-0-0 in net, had a 1.01 goals against average and 0.972 save percentage, and also earned a 27-save shutout in his first outing of the season in Milwaukee.
When looking at O’Connor and Paterson this season I can’t help but feel for both as it relates to the ECHL. The Predators have no dedicated ECHL affiliate anymore and there is a relationship with the Atlanta Gladiators as far as skaters go. The goaltending situation through Atlanta is such that it’s difficult for either O’Connor or Paterson to play so sights turned to Quad City as a better platform for both to log time in net. It’s been rough for both in the ECHL.
Paterson has a 1-5-0-0 record from 6 starts between Norfolk and Quad City in the ECHL this season as well as a 4.54 goals against average and 0.889 save percentage. As for O’Connor things haven’t worked out for him at either level as his combined numbers between the AHL (Milwaukee) and ECHL (Atlanta and Quad City) read as follows: 0-10-1-1 record from 12 starts with a 4.05 goals against average and 0.880 save percentage.
