The Milwaukee Admirals returned to practice this morning at the MSOE Kern Center. After suffering their first defeat of the season against the Rockford IceHogs focus shifts to Friday night where the Admirals can get some quick revenge. This weekend sees the third meeting between the two teams in the opening six games. That will act as a table setter to Saturday when the first Amtrak Rivalry game will be played as the Admirals take on the Chicago Wolves – now the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights.

The news off the bat today was the return of defenseman Joonas Lyytinen to the Milwaukee Admirals. The 22-year old from Espoo, Finland made his North American pro debut with the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL this past weekend. And, in his first night of work, Lyytinen managed to score a power-play goal – and a rather good looking one at that. Lyytinen’s recall back to Milwaukee means the AHL setup once again effectively has a fourth defensive pairing as the Finn often works alongside Fred Allard during practice.
As far as other notes for today’s practice: there was still no Cody Bass. The veteran forward was involved in a scrap in the Admirals second game of the season. He hasn’t played since. Bass is still around the group, and in good spirits, but it would seem he is still a no-go for the weekend.
After practice wrapped up everyone headed back to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena – which is experiencing full-on “Bucks Takeover” mode. Interviews with the players today were decided by the fans via our Facebook page. That meant hearing from: Matt O’Connor, Tyler Kelleher, Trevor Murphy, and Pierre-Cédric Labrie.
How do you feel about the Milwaukee Admirals start to the 2017-18 season? Can the Admirals get a quick response in Rockford on Friday night? And are you excited to get the first look at the Vegas edition of the Chicago Wolves this weekend?
