The Milwaukee Admirals held practice this morning at the MSOE Kern Center. They have been there this week as the Milwaukee Wave get going on their season at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. That would mean, if you’re free tomorrow around 10:00 AM CDT on towards noon, you could get a final glimpse at these Admirals ahead of the first two home games of the season this weekend.

The great news today is that Admirals captain Trevor Smith appears to be back and ready for this weekend. Smith suffered an upper-body injury during the season opener in Iowa and has missed the past two games. He will slot right in where Frédérick Gaudreau left off after his recall to the Nashville Predators. It would appear though that Cody Bass is still not quite close to a return.
Meanwhile, the Admirals did have Fred Allard back and were able to work him in with Joonas Lyytinen as a fourth defensive pairing at today’s practice. I’m not all that certain whether the two will be back around tomorrow or through the weekend though. It might be that one or both get reassigned to the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL) who play Friday and Saturday on the road against the Colorado Eagles. I’d keep an eye on AHL Transactions just in case that does occur.
After practice at the MSOE Kern Center we all headed back to the locker room at the much warmer UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Today I had the chance to catch up with Nashville Predators Director of Player Development Scott Nichol. I also chatted with Harry Zolnierczyk, Alex Carrier, and Anders Lindbäck – who was sporting a brand new Admirals specific mask today.
