The Milwaukee Admirals ran practice this morning at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. There was a delay to conduct a touch of ice maintenance. With all the construction taking place in the building humidity has caused a bit of havoc with consistency in the playing surface for the ice. Hopefully that gets clamped down in a week’s time as the home opener is fast approaching.

Prior to today’s practice: the Milwaukee Admirals did reassign defenseman Fred Allard to the Norfolk Admirals. Their ECHL season kicks-off tonight and tomorrow on the road against the Idaho Steelheads. It is possible that Allard makes his professional playing debut this weekend in the ECHL.
A spot of good news came prior to practice being delayed. Admirals team captain Trevor Smith skated on his own this morning. He was ruled out of the team’s second game of the season in Iowa due to an upper-body injury. It wasn’t believed to be serious but today marked his first day back to the ice. He didn’t participate in practice with the group but it’s a positive sign that he shouldn’t be that far away from a return.
A spot of bad news would be the same couldn’t be said for Cody Bass. He wasn’t on ice at all today. It’s very possible the team could be without both Smith and Bass this weekend against the Rockford IceHogs. That would make the forward lines you see up top the way it’ll be come Sunday evening.
After today’s practice I conducted interviews based on requests through Twitter. That mean chatting with Pierre-Cédric Labrie, Tyler Moy, Stephen Perfetto, Jack Dougherty, and Vladislav Kamenev.

Can you tell us what the construction is and why is making the arena warm, with cool temperatures outside?
Matt: The West region of the concourse is being pretty heavily worked on right now. They’ve also added video boards above entrance tunnels when walking into the 200 level – which look good. Biggest issue is simply the amount the doors are being opened for trucks and equipment to come in and out of the building making for the outside air and humidity to be persistent for the rink and arena airspace.
hopefully bass stays healthy this year help alot when playing
I can’t wait to see it next Friday! Downtown will be jumping with Cavs-Bucks at 6pm. Bears-Admirals at 7pm. I love seeing 4th street jumping!
Important note to all Admirals fans come November. The new parking lot north of the new arena that will hold 1,250 spots will open up. This by just doing the math will open spots around downtown and south of UWM Panther Arena.
