Admirals Make Initial Roster Cuts

The Milwaukee Admirals have shaken up their Training Camp Roster ahead of tonight’s pre-season contest against the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The Admirals have reassigned Angelo Miceli and Trevor Mingoia to the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL. The team also released Erik Bradford, Brandon Denham, and T.J. Melancon from their professional try-out contracts.

Both Miceli and Mingoia were both part of “future consideration” trades in the ECHL after the completion of the 2016-17 season. The two joined the Norfolk Admirals, who then -as an organization- became part of the affiliate list of the Nashville Predators in the ECHL, and then Milwaukee decided to sign both to AHL contracts for the 2017-18 season. It was likely that the two would ultimately begin their season with Norfolk but both displayed rather nicely on Thursday night in the pre-season victory over the Rockford IceHogs. Miceli managed to score the equalizing goal for Milwaukee in the third period.

For Norfolk, both players arriving packed a nice punch in the ECHL last season. Miceli topped the league for assists as a member of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits: 77 points (22 goals, 55 assists) in 68 games. Meanwhile Mingoia produced 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists) in 60 games for the Atlanta Gladiators. If those two are put on the same line you could see Miceli’s assists stay the course and Mingoia’s goals go up. They’re both crafty players that could find their way back up to Milwaukee during the course of the season.
