It didn’t register until late last night that a notable absentee from practice yesterday was Jonathan Diaby. As it would make sense, now that he is back to game fitness, he has been reassigned from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) to the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL).
Diaby’s season has seen just the worst luck on the injury front. The 21-year old was caught by a skate that was nearly an inch away from cutting his femoral artery earlier this season while playing for the Cyclones. The cut that came from that skate required an initial surgery and a follow up surgery to stop further bleeding that was taking place. As Diaby was trucking along in his return to the ice he was brought up to the Admirals where an upper-body injury has sidelined him for the past nine-games and over a month’s worth of hockey. Should Diaby play in tonight’s game for the Cyclones it would be his first taste of game action since 1/8/16.
