Life got a little more difficult for the Milwaukee Admirals today. Goaltender Mark Dekanich was called up this morning by the Nashville Predators for his third stint with the club.
As of present time, I am not sure what this all means. but I do know that there are a lot of rumors involving Predators backup goaltender Anders Lindback. Lindback is a player a lot of teams are interested in (for obvious reasons: he’s young, big but mobile and has a great record in relief this season), therefore something could be afloat for Nashville, especially with Dekanich joining the Predators as insurance. At least three teams, including Toronto, Colorado and the New York Islanders are actively shopping for goaltenders.
Around the NHL, it looks like the Tomas Kaberle deal to the Boston Bruins is now complete. Plus former Wisconsin Badgers goaltender Brian Elliott was traded today to Colorado for almost playoff hero Craig Anderson.
Lots of trade buzz today. It should be fun to see how it all shakes out.
Chicago’s Valabik was traded as well…
Lindback is just sick. Puking last night and had to take an IV. Precautionary measure
So much for Chet being the man in Cinci. He’ll be here tonight. Cinci must be calling local colleges for available goalies.
I appreciate the heads up MiB, with all of the flu going around the NHL, that isn’t a surprising result. With more injury issues occurring in Nashville, another Admiral or two might be on their way up before the end of the weekend, my guess would be Halischuk or Mueller.
I also wanted to add that former Admirals forward Rich Peverley was also traded today, to the Boston Bruins along with Boris Valabik (who has already been assigned to Providence) as the other side of Boston’s salary dump transaction of Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart.
Whether Lindback is sick or not, he probably could get them a scoring forward. The Preds need to win now, like two years ago. Lindback isn’t making what Pekka is,and why do you need him if your going to keep Pekka long term. I hope this is only an illiness, but yikes.
If we lose Dex show it will get dicey, just to make the playoffs.
Dex deserves some time in the big show. Mke is still alright with JSmith – MVP of the Kelly Cup last year. And if Chet ever pulls himself together, we’ll be ok in goal for years to come.
Wrap Around….
still feel that way about the Ads goalie situation after Smith dominated tonight?
There’s no organization in the NHL with deeper talent in the goaltender position than the Preds. Rinne->Lindback->Dex->Smith->Chet = solid at each stage of development. It’s actually amazing how deep this group is.
MiB…
Yeeeeessss. I mean it would be story book for Smith to pick right up where Dex left off. Hopefully we won’t need to find out.
