The Milwaukee Admirals lost 5-1 against the Manitoba Moose at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Saturday night.

The Admirals losing streak has reached six games. They faced a very dominant Moose squad on the evening but similar errors for the Admirals turned up once again. The Admirals have conceded twenty-eight goals during the losing streak and conceded five goals in four of the six games.

“When things are not going good they go really bad and, right now, they’re really bad,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “It’s as bad as I’ve seen it here in my six-years. We have to find a way to stick together and find a way out of this.”

Moose: Scouting the Enemy

About last night: that didn’t go to plan. The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-1 to the Chicago Wolves on the road. While the Wolves winning at the Allstate Arena is nothing new, now having won eleven straight games on home ice, the method in which the Admirals was also depressingly nothing new. The Admirals continue to shoot themselves in the foot  during games which stunts positive momentum swings and forces them to rally from behind. The Admirals can’t afford to do that at all these next two games. The Manitoba Moose are dangerous enough on their own without any added help.

Tricked Again; Admirals Lose 4-1 in Chicago

The Milwaukee Admirals lost 4-1 on the road against the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena on Friday night.

The Wolves entered this game with a ten game winning streak on home ice. That continues forward on the strength of a natural hat trick from Stefan Matteau. The skid for the Admirals has now reached five straight defeats. This is the longest losing streak by the Admirals since the 2014-15 season when they lost seven consecutive games in January 2015. That season the Admirals missed the playoffs.

Wolves: Scouting the Enemy

The Milwaukee Admirals first game out of the AHL All-Star break is a road clash against the Chicago Wolves. Things soured for the Admirals in the month of January. They went from a season best four-game winning streak but ended the month on a season worst four-game losing streak. That losing streak is active and all defeats came inside regulation. The Admirals appeared to greatly need the break in order to physically and mentally recharge. With the Wolves tonight and one of the best teams in the AHL, the Manitoba Moose, awaiting for them in Milwaukee the next two games: this is the time for the Admirals to start waking up and playing to their full potential.

That will be followed by the first of two meeting at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena against the Manitoba Moose. Those games are on Saturday and Tuesday.

Fifteen with Jake Paterson

In the most recent off-season the Milwaukee Admirals announced the signing of 23-year old goaltender Jake Paterson. It felt like one of those goaltending projects that could have a nice pay-off. Paterson was stuck in the Detroit Red Wings system and never really was afforded the chance to show what he could do on the AHL stage. It has been a rotation heavy time for both Admirals goaltenders behind Anders Lindbäck but lost in that is this has been the longest time spent operating in the AHL in Paterson’s career. It has been an opportunity to learn and to grow.

Fifteen with Tyler Moy

Tyler Moy has barely scratched the surface of his professional career. Yet, it hasn’t taken that long for all of us from the outside to see what a Renaissance Man he is. He arrived out of his collegiate career at Harvard University still grinding away with online classes while making his pro debut with the Milwaukee Admirals in order to graduate on time. And he did with a degree in Human Evolutionary Biology.

Admiral of the Month: January

The Milwaukee Admirals month of January started off with such promise. Despite loads of up-down stretches in December there were overtime games and narrow results by month’s end that felt as though the Admirals were slowly turning a corner. January was reflecting that change and the Admirals were able to get a season high four-game winning streak in the process. Yet, ups and downs is the theme that is plaguing the 2017-18 season. It has been the most consistent element of all. And that is why it almost didn’t feel shocking to see the month of January end with a season low in a four-game losing streak which remains active once play resumes after the AHL All-Star break.

Tonight is the start of the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic festivities from Utica, New York. The event begins with the AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 PM CST tonight and is followed by the AHL All-Star Challenge tomorrow night at 6:00 PM CST. The Milwaukee Admirals will have two representatives for the event: Anders Lindbäck and Emil Pettersson.

We’ve already had the chance to get to know Pettersson a bit better earlier this season. Now it is time to chat with the Big Swede himself whose journey from being drafted to being an AHL All-Star has been an incredible one to follow.
