I wasn’t going to say it on Friday. I wasn’t about to say it on Saturday. And I certainly wasn’t going to say it on Sunday. That might have jinxed it. Yet, today is Monday. The Milwaukee Admirals played three-games in three-days and they didn’t make a game changing mistake in any single play of those hockey games against great teams. Friday, 4-1 win against the Rockford IceHogs. Saturday, 4-1 win on the road against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Sunday, 3-2 overtime win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. 180 minutes of structured, smart, and defensively sound Admirals hockey in the face of immense pressure. This was talked up by the coaching staff and players as one of the most important weekends of this season. They came together as team and succeeded.

The Weekend Sweep; Ads Win Shootout 3-2

(Photo Credit: Jeff Hanisch. Game Recap: Nicholas Hatch.)

The Milwaukee Admirals won 3-2 in a shootout against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday night at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

For the second time in two months: the Admirals have swept a weekend three-in-three. The new-look Admirals now find themselves sitting in fifth place of the Central Division standings. Anders Lindbäck’s thirty-eight save effort stole the show tonight, forced overtime, and he and Anthony Richard closed out the shootout in style.

“[Lindbäck] has been -the- guy, not our guy, -the- guy,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason of his goaltender. “And he continues to do that. We just feel so confident in him. He’s been everything on and off the ice.”

Penguins: Scouting the Enemy

2 June, 2004. That date marks the last time that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins visited Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was Game 2 of the 2004 AHL Calder Cup Finals and the Milwaukee Admirals won that night at the Bradley Center by a final score of 8-4. There would be no other games played in that series back in Milwaukee. The Admirals swept the Penguins with a 2-1 overtime in in Game 3 and decisive 7-2 victory in Game 4 in the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza to earn their first Calder Cup.

We are nearing 14 years since that achievement by the Admirals. Since, the Penguins have made it to the Calder Cup Finals on one occasion in 2008 but would lose once again to Darren Haydar but this time as a member of the Chicago Wolves. The Admirals made it to the 2006 Calder Cup Finals with Pekka Rinne in net but would fall short in six-games against the Hershey Bears. It has been a battle for both to be more ever since but both saw their parent clubs go head-to-head in the most recent Stanley Cup Finals.

The Milwaukee Admirals won 4-1 on the road against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena on Saturday night.

The new look Admirals have started off the three-in-three weekend with successive wins. Tonight marked the Admirals debut of goaltender Troy Grosenick made thirty-six saves and earned a win as the group took a big step forward from last night. The Admirals end their regular season slate in Grand Rapids with a 3-1-1-0 record.

Griffins: Scouting the Enemy

Great news, the last time the Milwaukee Admirals played against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena they had double the amount of shots on goal as they had last night! Heck, they also beat the Griffins in that game 4-3. It hasn’t been great for the Admirals historically against the Griffins but this is an Admirals team that needs to forget the past and purely focus on the here and now. The Admirals need to get themselves out of this hole in the Central Division standings and the only way to achieve that is one game at a time.

Chatterbox, Vol. 259

I had two ideas of how last night’s game was going to go for the Milwaukee Admirals. Either all of those alterations made around the NHL Trade Deadline were going to have a great impact and boost the team or it would be more of the same. I can’t even say either of those two completely happened but what did happen was one of the strangest games that the Admirals may have played – ever. And it can be backed up statistically.

Late-Game Madness; Ads Win 4-1

(Photo Credit: Jeff Hanisch. Game Recap: Nicholas Hatch.)

The Milwaukee Admirals won 4-1 against the Rockford IceHogs at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Friday night.

After scoring in the opening two minutes: the Admirals hit a bit of a lull. With just seven shots through two periods it was a feat of its own to be tied heading to the third. The Admirals would break out in a big way, however, scoring three goals within four minutes to pull away late. Backed by Emil Pettersson’s two goals, and Anders Lindbäck’s strong play, the Admirals put an end to their three-game skid.

“We talked after the game that two points is two points,” commented Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “Obviously it wasn’t how we drew it up but [Lindbäck] was really good, held us in there.”

IceHogs: Scouting the Enemy

This weekend has the feeling of one of the most important timestamps on the Milwaukee Admirals 2017-18 season. The team has been in a seesaw battle throughout the campaign but after the recent a four-game road trip ended with three consecutive regulation losses: everything has changed.

The Admirals will feature four brand new players on this three-in-three weekend that pits them against higher seated teams in the standings. The Rockford IceHogs visit to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena tonight can set the tone for a pivotal weekend. Will this new look Admirals team hit the ground running or will there be more of the same scrambled play?

The Milwaukee Admirals were back to it at the MSOE Kern Center this morning. The Admirals will look to snap a three-game losing skid and get back to winning ways this weekend. In order to do that they’ll need to run the gauntlet. The Admirals have a three-in-three weekend ahead of them which sees them play teams who are all ahead of them in the playoff picture.

Fifteen with Mark Zengerle

When the 2017-18 season for Mark Zengerle he was set to embark on a European adventure in Sweden with Linköping HC. It was the first time in his career that he would be leaving North America behind. And, sadly, it just wasn’t a fit for all parties involved.

Zengerle would leave Linköping after only playing in 9 games and set his sights for an AHL return. He had signed with his hometown team the Rochester Americans but, upon re-entry to the AHL, he would be claimed on waivers by the Milwaukee Admirals. He quickly found his footing back in the state of Wisconsin where he played collegiately with the Badgers for four-years.
