The Milwaukee Admirals were shutout 3-0 against the Manitoba Moose at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Saturday night.

For the first time this season the Admirals have been shutout. Their power-play went blank from seven opportunities and timely offense on the part of the Moose extended their winning streak to six straight games.

“Certainly, the second period we have them four shots – and we’re down 2-0,” said Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “For the most part we probably out-chanced them, their goaltender played well, but it’s one of the first time that we probably say we didn’t look like we were going to score. The offense let us down tonight.”

If these last two games for the Milwaukee Admirals are anything to go by: expect the unexpected. They will be closing out a three-game homestand tonight against the Manitoba Moose who currently lead the Central Division, are on a five-game winning streak, and only have a single loss from their last ten-games. So, hey, let the good times roll!

The Milwaukee Admirals didn’t play a single overtime game until Wednesday night. That night they lead 2-0, saw their lead disappear, and ended up going to a shootout where they won 3-2. Tonight it was the opposite story. The Admirals were down 2-0, looked miserable in the second period, and fought back from the start of the third period all the way through to overtime to earn a 3-2 win against the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. This game had a little bit of everything. But these last two results are starting to see steps taken in the right direction.

Firstly, I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday. We are now in a fast approach for the conclusion to the Milwaukee Admirals run of games in November. It’s been a lot of “down-up, stop-start, repeat” but we’re currently at an up. All that these kinds of patterns need to be kicked is for two or more results to start going the right way. Wednesday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Cleveland Monsters was a start. Now it is time to see if the Admirals can really follow up strongly this weekend at home.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I suppose we can all be thankful that the Milwaukee Admirals are back to winning ways after last night’s 3-2 shootout win over the Cleveland Monsters. It was a challenging game but one that appeared to really sharpen up the Admirals by night’s end. What’s important is to see the Admirals two game skid come to an end. Now what will be important is finding ways to build off of it moving forward this weekend.

Shootout; Admirals Win 3-2 Over the Monsters

The Milwaukee Admirals won 3-2 in a shootout against the Cleveland Monsters at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Wednesday night.

For the first time this season the Admirals played in overtime. One better, this game required a shootout to decide things. The Admirals saw a 2-0 lead go away but the two who shined the brightest on the night, Anders Lindbäck and Bobby Butler, would polish off the victory in the shootout tonight. The win stops a two game skid for the Admirals.

“We were real happy with the way our compete was tonight,” commented Milwaukee Admirals head coach Dean Evason after the game. “We systematically weren’t as good as we’ve been. Our structure was a little loose. Thank goodness [Lindbäck] was outstanding.”

Monsters: Scouting the Enemy

Take #3! The Milwaukee Admirals are opening up a three-game homestand tonight. They first must solve a puzzle that has stumped them the past two games – the Cleveland Monsters. The Admirals will be doing this without previous NHL caliber names that they had last week in Cleveland: Juuse Saros, Pontus Åberg, and Frédérick Gaudreau. They won’t have Yakov Trenin due to injury. And Trevor Smith and Pierre-Cédric Labrie are questionable due to injury. Despite all of that: can the Admirals avoid losing three straight games for the first time this season?
